isadora duncan

Isadora Duncan (May 27, 1877 — September 14, 1927) was a dancer, considered by many to be the creator of modern dance. Born in the United States, she lived in Western Europe and the Soviet Union from the age of 22 until her death at age 50. In the United States she was popular only in New York, and only later in her life. She performed to acclaim throughout Europe.
Duncan's fondness for flowing scarves was the cause of her death in an automobile accident in Nice, France when she was passenger in an Amilcar, and her silk scarf, draped around her neck, became entangled around the open-spoked wheels and rear axle, breaking her neck
She interpreted music freely and with restriction. A performance in London, with her dancing barefoot, soon enraptured concerts halls throughout Europe. She was bisexual.
Isadora Duncan was a dancer who taught and performed in a new and less restrictive form. Many regard her as the mother of modern dance.

  1. Isadora duncan a dancer who is considered by many people the creater of modern dance. She had a short life and only lived till 50. She died in a car, where her scarf wrapped round her neck and became entangled in the wheels.
She interpreted music freely and to her own beat, she danced bare foot, which was very different to earlier time periods of classical ballet. This was seen as quite rebellious. She was also bisexual.
